2020 Simple Life —ORIGINAL

Overview

After a year defined by the pandemic, Simple Life returned to Huashan 1914 Creative Park, the site of its first edition, under the theme ORIGINAL. The scale shifted with it. Public health regulations imposed capacity limits and contact tracing, so the festival moved back to a ticketed model after years as a free event, trading reach for a controlled and comfortable experience. Two days brought together 55 acts on four stages.

The curated market ran 130 creative brands and makers under a theme of circulation and reuse, finding new purpose for used objects. Two crossover collaborations anchored it. Wanpo Laundry, the Taichung laundromat that turned abandoned clothing into a viral fashion project, ran a workshop on giving garments a second life. Artist Lu Ying-chang built a wishing pool in the Meadow Market, inviting visitors to paint a wish for the year ahead.
