Scope New Brand Development
Role Brand Identity, Positioning, Naming, Strategy
Brief Identify the whitespace in the wellness category and build a brand from scratch.
Context
We live in a culture that asks us to make every moment count. Every hour is optimized, every moment accounted for, every body treated as an instrument of output. Work follows us home, screens fill the gaps, and even self-care feels like another task in improvement.
Category
Massage oils often came from brands rooted in sensuality and intimacy, while candles were presented as passive objects for setting the mood. Both offer ways to unwind, but tell different stories: candles lead with scent, design, and atmosphere; massage oils with touch, nourishment, and bodily experience.
Tension
A massage candle brings these qualities together: light, fragrance, warmth, and touch. Yet describing what the product does only tells part of the story. In a life organized around getting things done, could it give people a reason to linger?
Opportunity
What if downtime deserved the same intentionality as everything we make time for? Listening to a record, spending a quiet morning alone, or drawing closer to someone can be experiences worth savoring in themselves. AFTR could give these everyday moments a ritual of their own. Slowness can be tangible through an open-ended ritual, leaving people free to decide what the moment becomes.
AFTR was conceived as a brand that reimagines slowness as deliberate, sensual, and worth choosing.
Strategy
Positioning the AFTR as a ritual for everyday downtime, with room for personal pleasure, exploration, and connection. Broadening the relevance beyond a specific massage or romantic occasion. Make the massage candle an invitation to everyday slowness, together, craftsmanship and sensory discovery create space to enjoy a moment, an experience that ask nothing of you except presence.
AFTR makes downtime exceptional.
